Abstract: (534 Views)
In this paper, the propagation of electromagnetic waves from a one-dimensional photonic crystal containing pseudo-isotropic nanocomposite structurally chiral materials in the absence and also in the presence of a low-frequency electric field is investigated. In the absence of applied voltage and metal nanoparticles, a photonic bandgap independent of circular polarization is created in the transmission spectra. In the presence of applied voltage, this photonic bandgap converted to a photonic bandgap sensitive to circular polarization. Also, it is shown that the applied voltage increases the width of this bandgap. In addition, it is observed that the applied voltage can even open a new photonic bandgap which is independent of the polarization when such a bandgap is not there in the absence of the low-frequency electric field. Also, due to the presence of metallic nanoparticles, this structure shows a new bandgap independent of polarization and voltage. Also, the effect of the material of metal nanoparticles on the transmission spectra of this structure is considered.
