Abstract:   (1364 Views)
Passively Q-switched microchip lasers are robust, compact and inexpensive sources of several kilowatts, coherent sub-nanosecond pulses at high repetition rates. In this paper it is demonstrated that by modification of the crystal characteristics and pump power we can reach to the 250µJ pulse energy and 450ps pulse duration at 1kHz repetition rate. In addition the effect of some properties of pumping system on pulse energy is demonstrated. High-power microchip lasers are suitable for second, third and forth harmonic generation because of their short pulse duration and high peak power. Moreover, relatively high energy of pulses can increase the efficiency of amplifier systems effectively.
