Abstract:   (6877 Views)
In this paper, for characterization of underwater laser communication systems, the propagation of Elliptical Partially Coherent Flat-Topped (EPCFT) laser beam with Astigmatic aberration through an oceanic turbulence is investigated based on the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral principle and the unified theory of coherence and polarization. For achieving this aim, analytical expression for describing the cross spectral density matrix is derived and then analytical formulas for studying the normalized intensity and the degree of polarization are reported. The effects of some important factors such as the relative strength of temperature and salinity fluctuations, the rate of dissipation of turbulent kinetic energy per unit mass of fluid and astigmatic aberration on quantities listed above, have been studied. Based on these analytical expressions, conclusions demonstrate that for stronger turbulence, the normalized intensity is most affected and changes in the behavior of degree of polarization occur sooner but with smaller magnitudes when salinity fluctuations in the ocean dominate temperature fluctuations. The achieving conclusion indicated by graphs.
