Abstract: (744 Views)
We investigate theoretically plasmonic high-harmonic generation (HHG) as a means of producing coherent extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation by taking advantage of field enhancement occurring in metallic nanostructures. Plasmonic nanostructure is consist of an elevated gold bowtie nanoanatenna on a sublayer. The simulation results show that the elevated bowties allow manifestation of intrinsic plasmonic coupling effects in suspended nanocavities from structures that are not in physical contact with a substrate. This configuration results in up to 0.31 of magnitude additional enhancement in field inside nanogap compared to that of nonelevated bowtie nanostructures. Thus, HHG triggers directly from moderate femtosecond pulses of 0.1TWcm-2 intensities. By using gaseous H atoms as the HHG emitter, the calculated EUV spectra exhibit harmonics up to 9.4nm wavelengths.
