The present paper reports the fabrication of LDPE/TiO2 nanocomposites by incorporating TiO2 in low density polyethylene (LDPE) followed by the melting method. The effect of addition of TiO2 nanoparticles on the electrical and optical properties of samples was studied. UV-visible spectroscopy and I-V characteristic were performed to study the optical and electrical parameters such as electrical conductivity, energy band gap and extinction coefficient of nanocomposites. The significant enhancement in the electrical properties of LDPE/TiO2 compared with pure LDPE was observed with a 30 wt% TiO2 loading, such as 150% increase in electrical conductivity. The energy band gap and extinction coefficient significantly reduced with increasing TiO2 content up to 30 wt%, such as energy band gap decreases to 2.4 eV.
