Broadband and high-speed 2×2 electro-optic switch based on hybrid plasmonic waveguide

In this article, we present a broadband and high-speed 2×2 electro-optic switch based on directional coupler for reconfigurable interconnection applications in optical network. The used waveguides are hybrid plasmonic waveguides which provide new possibilities for integrating of polymer electro-optic materials in silicon technology. Switching time is 4 ps and optical crosstalk levels lower than -18 dB are obtained for an optical bandwidth of 87 nm.
