- In this paper, we investigate the entanglement swapping between two two-level atoms inside two separate cavities in which each atom interacts with an electromagnetic field in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr medium. In order to transform the entanglement between the two atoms, we perform a Bell-state measurement on the field modes leaving the cavities. The results show that under certain conditions, the maximum value of entanglement can be achieved. In particular, the Kerr medium washes out the periodic behavior of the entanglement but it preserves the maximum value of the entanglement. It is established that the degree of entanglement is tunable by changing the initial state of the system and the off-resonance parameter, appropriately.
