In this paper, a Nd YAG laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror as back mirror, was studied experimentally. The gain medium was pumped longitudinally by a laser diode which its maximum output power was 3 w. The slope efficiency was %31 in the cw operation. The spot size on the SESAM was minimized by a suitable resonator designing and therefore tunable KHz repetition rate pulses were formed easily. In the pump power 2.7W, the Q switched pulse with pulse width 920 ns and repetition rate 43 KHz was generated.
