In this research a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is used to study the changes of surface properties of materials. DBD is made by an AC generator and two electrodes in the atmosphere condition. A raw ceramic and a coated ceramic by titanium dioxide were treated by atmospheric pressure DBD. Titanium dioxide nanoparticle was synthesized by sol gel method and it was coated on the ceramic surface by spray coating. The coated ceramic was heated in the furnace of a ceramic factory. The surface of the sample was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD). The water contact angle on the ceramic surface was decreased after DBD treatment and the surface changed to a superhydrophilic surface
