Optogenetics is an innovative technique for optical control of cells in neuroscience and medical research. In this paper we present the basic concepts are essential for a comprehensive understanding of optogenetics. Further, emphasis is placed on advancement in optogenetics-associated light-based methods in Laser and Plasma Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences for spatial control of neural systems in freely moving animals with optogenetics.
