Abstract: (3825 Views)
A narrow linewidth single-longitudinal-mode fiber ring laser is demonstrated by incorporating an unpumped Erbium -doped fiber section as saturable absorber. The saturable absorber acts as a narrow bandpass filter. The laser showed single mode operation with a narrow linewidth of 44MHz . Output powers up to 76mW at 1550nm are obtained for lanched pump powers of 300mW at 980nm. The mode selection mechanisms of the un-pumped EDF and ring resonator are theoretically analyzed and simulated.
