In this paper, colloidal glasses of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) which contain polymeric microspheres with various diameters are synthesized. To do this, first, the monodisperse colloidal particles of PMMA with a diameter of 246 nm were prepared using the suspension polymerization method. Then, they were used as a primary polymer to make colloidal particles consisting of different sizes using the free emulsion polymerization method. The vertical deposition method, which is a method based on the self-assembly of microspheres, was used for the growth of colloidal glasses. Furthermore, the properties of polymeric microspheres were investigated using UV-Vis spectroscopy. Colloidal glasses similar to colloidal crystals can be applied as templates in colloidal lithography.
