Abstract: (485 Views)
In this paper, converting the spot light of LiDAR diode laser of self-driving cars (automotive) into a uniform linear beam is investigated. The technique used for this beam shaping is the use of Powell non-spherical lenses. To ensure the uniformity of intensity along the laser line, two critical parameters, the radius of curvature and conic constant, are obtained by optimization. Simulation of collimator lens and Powell lens were carried out in Zimax optical software by using the laser diode output ray data. Performing the optimization show that choosing large values for conic constant and selecting radius size smaller than laser spot size, result in a better uniformity of beam intensity. The laboratory results confirm the accuracy of the design and simulation process.
