Abstract: (472 Views)
An effective method to produce a laser beam in the visible region is second harmonic generation (SHG) from a laser beam in the infrared spectrum using nonlinear crystals. In this paper, an arrangement for the high-efficiency production of a nanosecond pulsed green laser is presented by intracavity second harmonic generation of a longitudinally pumped Nd:YAG laser. For this purpose, a L-shaped cavity is designed in such a way that the created thermal lens in the active medium due to laser pomp well compensated and the stability of the cavity is in established a range of 1 to 20 watts. Then, output power of SHG in this arrangement is compared with that of extra cavity SHG. Both simulation and experimental results illustrate a 30-fold. increase of the output green power of the arrangement with the intracavity second harmonic generation compared to the extra cavity.
