Abstract: (812 Views)
THz radiation has various applications from medical to security. However, sensitive detection of THz radiation at room temperature has complications. Graphene due to fast charge carrier dynamics is an ideal material for different applications like photodetection. Because of constant 2.3% absorption of graphene in a wide range of frequencies, increasing graphene absorption is necessary for any application. Plasmonic effects in graphene-metal interfaces can be used to solve this problem; which can improve graphene absorption in resonance frequency even to 80% with increasing electric field magnitude. Photo-thermoelectric (PTE) effect is an inspiring detection mechanism in graphene. Photo-excited carriers thermalize rapidly due to strong electron-electron interactions and low electronic heat capacity of graphene. In this article a graphene based photo-detector in THz range have been designed and simulated benefiting photo-thermoelectric effect.
