Eriochrom BlackT (EBT) is an organic dye with nonlinear optical properties. The results of the effect of the concentration of cationic surfactant acetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) on the nonlinear optical property of EBT have been investigated using Z-scan. The results show a decrease in nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index of sample with increasing surfactant. The study of the absorption spectra of the sample indicates the formation of a new compound EBT:CTAB.
