We report on the design and construction of a solar-pumped solid-state laser. To collect solar radiation, a parabolic solar collector plate with a diameter of 2.4 m and a depth of 0.4 m has been made. The surface of this dish was covered with more than ten thousands of flat mirrors with dimensions of 2×2 cm2 and 70% reflectivity. In order to make the best use of solar radiation, we placed the laser cavity in a cone and put this cavity in the focal zone of the plate. In this paper, Nd: YAG laser crystal with a length of 66 mm and a diameter of 6.5 mm has been used. Cooled water was used to cool the cavity.
