In this paper, we present a new and interesting method for the generation of single attosecond pulses in a femtosecond laser interaction by the hydrogen atom. By minimization of the duration and bandwidth product of the emitted field form the atom, single Gaussian attosecond pulses are achieved. Then, by some modifications, we extend our method to the generation of Gaussian attosecond pulses of desired time durations and bandwidths. Finally, we study the mode-locking properties of the generated pulses.
