In this paper, a novel zone plate-based element is introduced to produce an elliptical annular light beams. On the other hand, the element is able to convert an incident plane beam into a focused elliptical light beam. Having presented the structure of the element, its capability in generating a variety of elliptical beams having a desired orientations and sizes is theoretically demonstrated. Additionally, the corresponding experimental examinations verify the simulation results.
