Abstract: (1478 Views)
We investigate high-order harmonic generation (HHG) resulting from the interaction of argon gases with enhanced inhomogeneous electric field based on localized surface plasmon. These fields produced when an Ag coated around Au coupled ellipsoidal nanoparticles are illuminated by a short laser pulse. The results show that by applying a thin Ag coating around the nanoparticles, the field strength in the nanoparticles gap is such that the higher order harmonic generation can be achieved. Also, the significant field enhancement in argon in the vicinity of metal nanoparticles allows us to use much lower incident intensities than in typical HHG experiments. As a result it can be prevented nanoparticles from thermal destruction. Thus one can be apply this scheme to produce ultrashort XUV pulses with MHz repetition rates for many times.
