Abstract: (12485 Views)
The effect of silver metal nanoparticles on the fluorescence spectrum of coumarin laser dyes have been studied. What observed was suppression of fluorescence intensity of the dye at different concentrations of nanoparticles. 2 - propanol was selected as solvent because of its considerable stability. Coumarin fluorescence emission spectrum overlaps the absorption spectrum of silver nanoparticles such that energy transfer from the excited coumarin fluorescence to Ag nanoparticles occurs. It is concluded that the quenching is due to this surface energy transfer.
