Controlling the quantum phase transition of a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate inside an optical cavity

- In this paper we investigate the nonlinear effect of atomic collisions on the threshold of quantum phase transition in a system consisting of a Bose-Einstein condensate trapped inside an optical cavity in which the atoms are pumped optically form a direction perpendicular to the cavity axis. We show that by manipulating the atomic interaction strength, one can control the critical point of the phase transition.
