Efficiency Enhancement of Silicon Solar Cells Using 1D Photonic Crystals

In this paper, the influence of one-dimensional photonic crystal back reflectors on performance improvement of silicon solar cells has been investigated. Solar radiation has much intensity in the visible and infrared regime, thus we have designed the back reflector PCs to operate in the desired wavelength band. Finally, the improvement of efficiency of the solar cell has been achieved.
