Commercial Optical Coherence Tomography systems using SLD sources are normally very expensive units of over hundred thousands of dollars. We have tried in the present work to build a spectrometer using a mobile phone and a wide band lamp source instead of such an expensive commercial unit. This has led in a huge cost reduction. The accuracy obtained with such cheap spectrometers is sub-nanometer. Our investigation in the present work shows that refractive index and the thickness of different samples can be measured with a good accuracy.
