In this paper, the effect of convective air turbulence on light beam's coherence function, which propagated through it has been investigated. The produced convective air turbulence is similar to convective turbulence of ground layers. This turbulence medium has been created by electrical heater with dimensions of 100×200 cm2. The plane wave has been propagated through the turbulent medium. The propagated light's Wave front from this medium has been reconstructed at the end of path using moiré based wave front sensor. Using the wave front sensor data, the phase structure function of the light was calculated. Assuming the Gaussian statistics of refractive index which causes the Gaussian optical phase fluctuations, the coherence function of light beam's was calculated. Then the effects of different temperature gradients on the coherence function were studied. The results show that, in high temperature gradients the light beam's coherence function decreases faster.
