In this paper, it is shown that the imperialist competitive algorithm can be used in a wavefront sensor-less adaptive optics system for correcting the phase aberrations of a solid-state laser beam. The correction capability of this algorithm is compared with that of genetic and stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithms. The comparison results show the very good correction capability of the imperialist competitive algorithm.
