Abstract: In numerically reconstructed images of digital holography the zero order diffraction, the complex conjugate image and experimental noises coexist with the real image of the object. These undesirable features not only reduce the quality of the reconstructed images, but also make it difficult to extract the invaluable information contained in the phase of the diffracted wavefront from the object surface. In this work, the mentioned undesirable features have been effectively removed by filtration of the CCD-recorded holographic pictures. To this end, 3×3 average filters and transparent filters have been used. These spatial and frequency filters should be chosen carefully and in accordance with the underlying physical relations for recording the holograms.
