Recently, the use of ultraviolet pulsed disinfection lamps and cold atmospheric pressure plasma are introduced in the field of sterilization as new technologies. Therefore, in this study we compare the effects of these two technologies in decontamination of E. coli. The Results of pulsed xenon flash lamp with Pyrex envelope showed that at least 80 pulses, has ability to sterilize the bacteria culture media. The results of plasma flow on treated surface showed that the active species in the plasma jet has caused a dramatic reduction in the number of colonies. So after 6 minutes of treatment with plasma jet number of colonies fell into zero. On the other hand the effects of continuous commercial UV light and pulsed xenon flash lamp were compared with that of plasma jet regarding two different initial bacteria colonies.  In conclusion, it can be noted that modern technology of optical pulses due to high energy and low operation time, can successfully be effective in disinfection of solid surfaces.
